  • HARRY M. BAGDASIAN

    Author of “Sharon’s Play,“ produced by PlayZoomers in October 2020

    Harry M. Bagdasian’s 16 anthologies of comedy sketches for students were published by Contemporary Drama Service (now Pioneer Drama) and have been performed in over 4,000 schools worldwide. He is published by Samuel French and Dramatic Publishing including the popular “JOURNEY TO THE WORLD’S EDGE: a folk tale in the Irish tradition” (written with Ernie Joselovitz.) His other plays have been produced by The New England Actor’s Theatre, The Source Theatre, Imagination Stage, and PlayZoomers.   • MICHAEL BRADY

    Author of “Café Plays,” produced by PlayZoomers in April 2020 and January 2022, “Reunion” in December 2020, Table Read of “Queen of the Sea” in February 2021, “Queen of the Sea,” in November 2021.

    Michael Brady has benefited mightily from PlayZoomers, including a reading of his “Café Plays,” which launched PlayZoomers, as well as a production of “Reunion,” directed by Steve Yakutis and, most recently, a table read of “Queen of The Sea,” directed by Rhonda Goldstein. Michael created and currently manages Berkshire Voices, a workshop for local playwrights in Great Barrington, MA. His play, “To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday,” was developed by The Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City and produced as a film by Sony Pictures. Other stage works include: “Sara,” Equity Library Theatre at Lincoln Center, “Semper Fi,” Gloucester Stage Company, MA, “Hard Time,” Main Street Stage, North Adams, MA, and “Two Bears Blinking,” New Theatre, Miami. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild.

  • MARTHA KING DE SILVA

    Martha King De Silva’s plays for children and adults have been produced at venues across the country, including, Source Theatre Company, Horizons Theatre, and Charter Theatre (Washington, DC); Potomac Theatre Company (Potomac, MD); 2 Co’s Cabaret (Columbus, OH); ShadowBox Cabaret (Newport, KY); the Industrial Arts Theatre (Denver, CO); The Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival (New York, NY); Theatre at Lime Kiln (Lexington, VA); The National Portrait Gallery (Washington, DC), Children’s Theatre of Charlotte (Charlotte, NC), Imagination Stage (Bethesda, MD), and Synchronicity Theatre (Atlanta, GA).

    Her work has been described as “hilarious” (Columbus Alwire); “moving, funny, often ironic always interesting,” (Denver Post); “gentle, disarming” (Washington Times), and a “big woof and more,” (Creative Loafing, Charlotte).

    In 2002, her one-woman play, “Stretch Marks” (Charter Theatre) was nominated for the Charles MacArthur Award (Helen Hayes) for Outstanding New Play. In 2010, “Heidi,” a musical that she co-wrote with composer and lyricist, Joan Cushing, received a Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Production, Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA).

    Martha has been a recipient of grants from the DC Humanities Commission and the DC Historical Society. She was awarded the H.D. Lewis Award for New Play Development at the 1996 Washington Theatre Festival and was the winner of the Best New Play Award at the 1999 Maryland Theatre Festival. Her monologues have appeared in the Best Women’s Stage Monologues of 1996 and the Best Men’s Stage Monologues of 1998.

  • JEAN DOBIE GIEBEL

    Jean Dobie Giebel, sometime-playwright, is Professor of Drama and Senior Associate Dean of Curriculum and Personnel for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Hofstra University, where she has created theater for over 20 years. She has also directed multiple Off- and Off-Off Broadway productions. As a director/dramaturg, she developed several new works for the Annual Samuel French Original Short Play Festival and the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. Her greatest inspiration is her students and her greatest joy is her family: voice-over artist Tim Giebel, and their very best production, Amelia Louise.

  • SAM GRABER

    Sam Graber has become widely heralded as the playwright with the world’s happiest headshot. His plays have been staged in some shape or form by ManyTracks (NYC), Abingdon Theatre (NYC), Seven Stories Theatre (NC), Mission Theatre (MN), Between Us Productions (NYC), Box Wine Theatre (NYC), Blank Theatre (CA), Seven Collective (NYC), Warner Theatre (CT), Upstage Theatre (TX), Pulp Stage (OR), Mildred’s Umbrella (TX), City Theatre of Independence (MO), Driftwood Players (WA), Venture Theatre (MT), Love Creek Productions (NYC), Collaboraction (IL), HartBeat Ensemble (CT), Renegade Theater (MN), Little Lifeboats (MN), AlphaNYC Theater (NYC), New York Theater Festival (NYC), Equity Library Theatre (NYC), Swandive Theatre (MN), Arts Nest (MN), Abstract Sentiment Theatre (NYC), Players Theatre (NYC), Capital Fringe (DC), The Wild Project (NYC), UL Studio Theatre Company (KY), Woodside Players of Queens (NYC), and The Workshop Theater (NYC).

    Meanwhile, he lives outside Minneapolis where the temperature is currently 406 degrees colder than wherever you are. He resides there with a wife, two kids, and a half-working iPad which means that he is, at best, the fifth most important thing in his house.

    His play, “The Watchers,” was awarded to the 2016 Broadway Producer List (NYC). Other plays of his have received nice awards, too. If anyone cares.

    He teaches classes at The Playwrights’ Center. His work has been published by Smith & Kraus, Original Works, and Dramatic Publishing.

  • KEN GREEN

    Author of “Your Favorite,” produced by PlayZoomers in January 2021 and “Filling in the Gaps,” a Table Read in January 2023

    Ken Green is a Chicagoan currently residing in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood. He’s a former news and sports reporter and editor, bad slam poet, and two-time standup comedian. He is co-host/co-producer of Story Club Boston, a storytelling/reading series. He has been featured on the nationally televised PBS storytelling show, “Stories from the Stage.” His plays include 2020’s “The Charles Lenox Experience,” an historical, “moving play” produced by New Repertory Theater. Other plays include “The Campaign,” “Your Favorite,” and “The F&L at 1330.” His plays focus on the drama, absurdity, and comedy in everyday life.

  • ZAN HALL

    Author of “Lotto & Raffles & Sweepstakes, Oh My!” produced by PlayZoomers in February 2021

    An eclectic writer, Zan has written dramatic works for radio, (her chiller radio drama series, “Other Realities,” aired on public radio stations throughout the U.S.) the stage, podcasts, and murder mystery dinner theatre. In 2020, “Ethereal Killer” won the “Playwrights Center of San Francisco Best Plays of 2020.” Also in 2020, “The Punch Bowl Bump-off” murder mystery was produced as an Actors Fund podcast and was also produced at the Shawnee Playhouse in PA as an interactive dinner theatre comedy. For this production, Zan was nominated for “Best Writer” and “Best Play” awards. Her children’s play, “An Incredible Journey to Chauyuan,” published by Samuel French, is about a Tibetan lad coping in Communist China.

  • ERNIE JOSELOVITZ

    Author of “Me and Mrs. Cheverly” produced by PlayZoomers in August 2020 and April 2021 and “Grandma and Her Bar Mitzvah Boy” produced in September 2023.

    Ernie Joselovitz has had plays produced in New York City and throughout the U.S. Most recently, his adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Kidnapped” premiered at Peoples Light and Theatre Company, and his play for young people, “The Boy Who Became Ben Franklin,” was awarded a national award from the Beverly Hills Theatre Guild. He received Best New Play awards in Philadelphia (the Barrymore award) and Metro DC (the MacArthur award). His plays have been published by Samuel French, Dramatists Publishing, and Dramatic Publishing.

  • MARK HARVEY LEVINE

    Author of "Oh, Tannenbaum," "Last-minute Shoppers," "Oy Vey Maria," and "Uncle Charlie Sings," produced by PlayZoomers in December 2021, ”The Kiss,” produced in June 2022, “Scripted,” produced in September 2022, and “Best Present Ever,” produced in December 2022.

    Mark Harvey Levine has had over 1800 productions of his plays from Sao Paulo to Seoul to Sydney, making him one of the top ten most produced writers of ten-minute plays in the world. His plays have been produced in over two dozen countries and in more than ten languages.

    A full evening of his plays, translated into Portuguese and called "Aperitivos" went on a multi-year National tour of Brazil.Another evening of his plays, “Roteirizados”, played in São Paulo at Teatro Augusto.Other full evenings of his plays, such as "Cabfare For The Common Man", “Didn’t See That Coming” and “A Very Special Holiday Special” have been shown in South Korea, Italy, and Mexico as well as all over the US.

    His plays have won over 45 awards and been produced in more than ten languages. His work has been published in over two dozen anthologies by Smith & Kraus, Applause, Routledge, and Vintage.

    A Spanish-language film of “The Kiss” (“El Beso”) premiered at Cannes and aired on HBO and DTV (Japan).

    Mark was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University's School of Drama. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Sara, and their son.

  • AIDAN SCULLY

    Aidan Scully is a Massachusetts student actor, director, and playwright, and a proud member of Taunton High School’s Class of 2021 and Harvard College’s Class of 2025. His works have been produced virtually by Playzoomers and the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild. He is also an award-winning poet and a published translator and enjoys infusing his writing with his academic interest in the Classics. When he isn’t writing, he enjoys hiking, biking, and advocating for social justice and youth representation in his community. He is grateful for the support and passion of the arts community, especially in these difficult times.   • ART SHULMAN

    Author of “Renewing Vows,” produced by PlayZoomers in June 2021, “The Actawr & The Directawr,” October 2021, and “Sex is for the Heart,” June 2022.

    A former college professor and market research consultant, Art started writing plays relatively late in life. He was 52 when his first full-length play was produced. Now he’s written about 100 plays, including about 30 full-length plays, 23 of which have had live stage productions. Many of his plays come from ideas that wake him up at night. He writes on a variety of subjects and styles - historical dramas, a murder trial, comedies, and dramadies.

  • MARY SPENCE

    Author of “Kill Your Darlings” produced by PlayZoomers in November 2020

    Mary Spence teaches at Besant Hill School, a boarding school in Ojai, CA. In the summers, she works as a theatre manager and actor at the Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English, where she has melded her love of literature with her passion for theatre. Mary studied acting at the L.A. County High School for the Arts, British American Drama Academy, and CalArts. She was encouraged to direct for the Arizona Shakespeare Festival, and she was fortunate to reside with them for 12 years. Writing has come from a need to express herself and process her surroundings and, for someone who identifies as an introvert, this has served as a happy outlet. Mary is a wife, mother, dog owner, and distance runner who dearly loves vegan cooking and the Pacific Ocean.

  • THOMAS W. STEPHENS

    Author of “May Tag,” “Sketching: 14 April 2020,” “Grandpa is with Jesse,” produced by PlayZoomers in September 2020 and “When I Leave This Place Behind,” January 2021, “Greening Zabella,” September 2021, “That Froelich Girl” and “May Tag,” September 2022.

    Thomas W. Stephens, Randolph College (formerly Randolph-Macon Woman’s College) Thoresen Professor of Theatre Emeritus. Following a career as an educator, director, and regional theatre leader, in retirement, Tom has enjoyed focusing primarily on his playwriting.

    Besides several PlayZoomers productions, his plays have been produced or developed at numerous venues, including the Detroit Repertory Theatre; the National Playwrights Conference of the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center; Berkeley Stage Company; Source Theatre Company; Pittsburgh New Play Festival; University of Virginia; D.C.’s Capital Fringe Festival; Dallas Theater Center; American Conservatory Theatre; Audrey Skirball Kennis Theatre; Barter Theatre’s Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights; the John F. Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage Festival; Ashland New Plays Festival; the North American Actors Association’s Playreading Festival (London); Fusion Theatre; Gemco Theatre (Australia); and the Great Plains Theatre Conference.

    Honors include Actors Contemporary Ensemble Playwriting Award; Wheaton College Playwriting Competition Award; Doorway Arts Ensemble Playwriting Award; the Carol Weinberg Best Play Award (Baltimore Playwrights Festival); and the Charles M. Getchell New Play Award of the Southeastern Theatre Conference. A member of The Dramatists Guild, Tom lives and writes in Washington, DC.

    Donald Loftus is a playwright whose work has been presented across America, the United Kingdom, Surathkal, India, and Uppsala, Sweden. He won the W. Keith Hedrick National Playwriting Award and The Southeast Texas Festival of New Plays. He proudly serves on the Board of Directors of The Dramatists Guild Foundation.
